Together - in(RL)

In 2006, I never dreamt that I would actually meet Robin (Pensieve) in real life. It just so happened that we were able to meet face-to-face at the in(courage) in(RL) event.

It was their second year hosting this upside down conference, their words not mine. Women can tune into a webcast from home on Friday and then on Saturday join in via their computer screens and connect with other (in)courage readers and new friends right in their own community. (I was completely out of my community, but quickly made new friends.)

Exclusively designed by Lisa Leonard for (in)courage, this necklace beautifully reminds women of the importance of community.....coming together to share, listen, and encourage one another.  Robin was such a sweetheart, and gave me my very own ((together)) necklace. We were finally together!

Everything seemed so fitting - in(RL), ((together)), friends. It was perfect!!

At one point during the day, I caught myself staring at Robin. There were many thoughts going through my head. First of all, I was really there, sitting in her house, watching her television (we watched everything on DVD), and mingling with her friends. I wasn't dreaming! I thanked God for giving me the opportunity to finally get to hug her neck, and for putting such an inspirtational woman in my life. God is really, really good to me!

This was my first in(RL), and I am looking forward to many more! I hope next time you will join me!

PinTest, Cowboys Locker Room & A Visitor

I've pinned a lot of stuff on Pinterest, and recently I have started to test some of these pins.  I plan on sharing each bomb or success with you, and this is one of the successes!  Yeah!!

It is a sugar scrub that was promised to leave your legs silky smooth. 

The test results:  It worked!!  I really liked the scrub; it was easy to make and felt so good!  The recipe makes a pretty big batch for one person, so I will scale it down a bit next time.  Also, cleaning the bath tub after using this scrub isn't much fun.  But I am getting ready to try another pin that claims it makes cleaning the tub/shower easier.  We'll see!


Recently, we were able to tour the Dallas Cowboys stadium.  It is an amazing facility!  What was even more amazing was the tour guide that could recall how many seats, television screens, feet of handrails, etc there were throughout the whole stadium. 

We went to the Cowboys Locker Room, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Locker Room, the press room, the field, and even had our photos taken on the field.  McD wanted to race Farmer Ribs from the 50 yard line to the goal line, but there was some debate whether one of them cheated.  The race ended early.

If you get a chance, you ought to take a tour.  Our next tour will be of the Texas Rangers ballpark.


Hello Spidey.

You know, for the longest time I watched this guy just hang from his web.  In fact, I thought he might be dead.  I grabbed a piece of water hose, and started aiming it at him and he ran.  He ran, I squirmed and ran in the house.  I still get the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. 

I have no idea what kind of spider this is, what he eats, or if it is a he or a she.  This photo was taken when I thought he was dead.  If you click on the photo it should show you a bigger photo, and then you can see just how close I was to it.  I think you can see its eyeballs. 

I wanted to feed it something, but I don't know what he eats, and I guess I just don't want to take the time to figure it out.  I never see anything in his web, so maybe he will starve and I won't have to kill him.  :)

That's kind of what has been happening here.

Music Trivia for You

I love music.  Love. It! I can listen to just about any music out there, just about.  One of my favorite artists is Elvis Presley.  In fact, when I die I don't want anyone to play a piano or sing at my funeral.  I have two cd's of Elvis' gospel music that I want played. 

Anyway, on to the trivia.

The other day I was listening to one of my many Elvis cds, and wondered to myself if anyone would remember the lyrics to one song in particular.

My Dog, My Camera and Me

Last Thursday I went for a jaunt with my camera, and my sidekick, Pepper. 

We made our way back to one of our ponds so I could take a few shots of the catfish that have just shown up out of nowhere. 

Pepper is the kind of dog I've always wanted.  Don't get me wrong, I love my Abby and Mia, but Pepper is my sidekick.

So when she got into the water I got a little antsy.

This just happened to pop up about five feet from us.

I tried to get a shot of all of him, but he was just too stinkin' big.  I think it was about six feet long.

There was a second snake swimming around but it was only four and a half to five feet long, and it wasn't as thick as this one.   Look at that forked tongue!

We saw pretty butterflies.

And some weeds that just happen to remind me of fireworks.  They look like little bursts.

Then, we finally saw what we came to see.

They might be hard to make out, but those are catfish. Bullhead catfish. They just showed up outta nowhere.  I've heard that birds can bring the eggs in, they hatch, and then we have fish.  However it happens, it did.  We have lots of fish. 

Later that day, when McD got home, we went back to the pond toting a .22 and some ammo.  Those snakes flipped and flopped after they were shot. 

Now, my sidekick is sitting here waiting for me to go over to the garden.

Remember When I Wanted A Bobcat? Well...

Ta-Da!!

Here is my original post where I told you that I wanted a Bobcat.

This isn't exactly a Bobcat, but that's okay, it'll do.  :)

Yesterday, as we were driving home from church, McD asked me what my plans were for the afternoon.  I didn't have much planned for myself, but I had stuff planned for him.  I wanted him to fix the road that goes around our place.  It runs through creeks, canyons, and pastures and it washes out in places just about every time it rains. 

But, before I let him get to work I had one request.  I wanted to learn how to run the skid steer.  Yep, you read that right. 

Here's my seat, I'm thinking of finding a pink seat cover for it.  What do you think?

Maybe pink camo. Hmmm.

I had to get some instruction first.  The very first thing that I was told when we got the skid steer was that I can't ride it with McD.

Bummer!

The next thing I learned was that I absolutely, positively, have to put my seat belt on or it won't work. Literally, it will drive, but the bucket won't move.  I'm wondering if I can strap it behind me.

So... I handed over my camera and took the wheel controls.

I'm off!

I'm having a little bit of fun here.  There are several things I like about this photo and a few things that I don't like.  I will let you figure all of that out. 

I am here to tell you that you can wear just about anything when you operate a skid steer.  I just happened to have on a swimsuit top, running skort, and flip flops.  Yep, I was stylin'!

Just look at that determination.

Mission accomplished!

I now know how to run the skid steer.  I think McD needs to get another one, because I am taking this baby over! Love it!

More Cupcakes

I told you that I'd post about the other cupcakes we went after today.

We went to Georgetown Cupcakes, aka DC Cupcakes. DC Cupcakes is the name of a television show on TLC. A couple of friends and I headed off on the trolley to get some more cupcakes.

Here I got, Vanilla-Chocolate, Chocolate2 (which is supposed to be chocolate squared), and birthday cake.

After trying each of the cupcakes, we decided that Georgetown Cupcakes had the better cupcakes.
