Do me a favor. Close your eyes. Now count backwards from 100. You are starting to get sleepy. Oh I'm joking!!
Seriously. Close your eyes. Not yet! You have to read the directions first. I want you to mentally walk through your home, with your eyes closed. I'm not sure why you need to close you eyes, it just sounded good.
Now, how many of your rooms have bare walls?
Here's my problem. I have three rooms with absolutely nothing on the walls. Nothing except a coat of paint. The rooms look bare and not very inviting. I keep wanting to change that, but I am no interior designer. In fact, an interior designer might actually faint if they walked into my house. I'm that bad.
I have what I think are good ideas, like the framed family recipes in the kitchen. Oh, another good idea I had was to put the grandkids' art in the hallway. I need more kids' art. I get promises to send art, but then I never see it. :(
Yesterday I spent a lot of time looking for decor online. Keep in mind that I really don't need a bistro set, but I gravitated to them. The bistro sets that I found were so nice, but I don't have room for a set. There is one set that is an outdoor set, and I do have room for that one. Hmm. I tend to get pulled in many directions while shopping online. :)
I finally moved on to things that I need to purchase.
When we moved in to our new home I wanted to put all the toilet paper in baskets instead of putting a holder on the wall. Let me tell you, I'd never had a problem with putting stuff on the walls of our houses before. But when we started from scratch, and built our home I had nail hole anxiety. I thought I was going to strangle McD for putting 6 holes in the wall when trying to hang a towel holder. It still turns my stomach.
So, instead of putting toilet paper holders on the wall I wanted baskets. Now that we have been in the house for a while I have figured out that we need a new system. We have the smart height toilets, the taller than standard ones. It gets really old kicking your legs out to the side to lean over and grab a roll of toilet paper, all while trying to stay on the throne. I have decided we need a new system, but I still don't want to hang anything on the wall. I am thinking of buying a free standing toilet paper holder. Believe it or not, there are toilet paper holders that cost over $500. I almost choked.
I realize this is a strange question, but what kind of toilet paper holder do you have?
The next thing I need to think about is how to decorate our guest room. Right now we have an antique bedroom set in there. It belonged to my great-grandparents. I was so happy to get it that I didn't think about how wrong it was for us. It is nice knowing that I have something that my great-grandparents bought, but now I wish someone else had it. That means that I have to find another bed, etc. Not to mention stuff to go on the walls.
Would you put family photos in the guest room? Or keep it more of a neutral room with just art?
Our workout room is another area that has absolutely nothing on the walls. I thought about putting up photos of our favorite athletes, or encouraging quotes. I don't know if I want to install mirrors along one wall, or just decorate them all. Any ideas?
As well as our master bath, but I am thinking of putting a collage of family photos there. We have one really long bare wall in there, and I think that would be perfect there.
I think I am going to have to take photos of the rooms that need decorating and see what kind of help I can get.
