Thankful Thursday?

Well, our Thankful Thursdays have kind of been a bust. We have a few people that enjoy linking and posting what they are thankful for. And for them I am thankful. We tried to make it work guys. But it isn't really catching on here. There is another Thankful Thursday group, so I will occasionally post what I am thankful for, but if you would like to join a group, that is where you will need to go.

Tomorrow I will begin answering questions. Over the weekend we will be traveling some, so I will leave it all open for more questions. I have no idea who is hosting Fun Monday, so could someone please tell me? :)

Here is my Thankful Thursday.

I am thankful for my grandparents. I am very fortunate to still have a set of my grandparents alive and well. As well as can be anyway. Today I am venturing off to visit them. We will have a blast, as we always do.

Have a great day everybody!!

Thankful Thursday, April 10th

Tt1

There are so many things to be thankful for today.  It seems a lot of prayers have been answered lately.

The rain. We always need moisture and it is usually in our prayers.

A new job!  I prayed for that for a long time.  McD might have even prayed for that, either that or he might have prayed that I would just shut up about my old job.  :)

Kids.  We will be able to go and spend some time with the kiddos before I begin my new job.  This is very exciting since we have not seen them since Christmas.

Family.  I know I have been thankful for that before, but last night I had a really good conversation with my sister.  (Okay Muncy, pick your jaw up off the desk cause we don't want you spilling your Starbucks on your sexy keyboard.)  :)

And last but certainly not least.  Friends.  Muncy.  When you say friend, I say Muncy.  McD bought me a new camera for my birthday (more on this to come) and Muncy sat with me to help me with settings, etc.  She is in one of the busiest seasons evah and she took some time out for me.  (Okay, so who doesn't like playing with a brand spankin' new camera, but I am saying it was ALL for me.)

Oh and one last thing...I am really thankful that I only have 4 days of this old job left.  :)

Thankful Thursday - April 3, 2007

I am thankful for our freedom in this country.  I am thankful for all the men and women in every branch of our military that fight for our freedom everyday.

Our town is burying one of our soldiers and I am very thankful that I am from such a patriotic place.  Monday his body was brought back home and there were many many people lining the street waving flags as they drove it to the funeral home.  The fire department hoisted a huge American flag over one of our streets and they drove the body under it.  I was not able to attend, but I heard from a very reliable source that another military man said that our town had more people show up than some in some of the larger cities, like New York.  It warms my heart to know that the people of our town are stepping up and showing their love and support.

Thankful Thursday ~ March 27

This time change is really kicking my hiney.  :)  Sorry I didn't have this up earlier.

As I arrived into San Francisco I became thankful as soon as I got off the BART system.  HA!  The BART is kind of like a monorail transportation system.  I am sure other people could give you more details on it if you are interested but I won't go into it here.

I am thankful that I have a home!  I have been thankful for that before, but with so many homeless people around me these past few days I have become even more thankful.  I am thankful that I have a sound mind (okay, this isn't the place to debate that I have a sound mind...we can tackle that another day).  Some of the homeless people have signs saying they need their medication, one man has a sign that says "I will buy beer," I almost wanted to give him some money for just being truthful about things.  There is a man called the Bushman, he sits behind to branches and then jumps out at people saying "I'm the bushman."  He scares people to death, but it would be kind of entertaining to just sit and watch for a while.

I am thankful that I am not digging into the trash to get lunch.  I watched a lady dig into the trash and get a sandwich out of a plastic container.  I watched her take a bite.  It grossed me out, but it also saddened me.  Then I walked into Macy's.  It happened right outside of Macy's.

And lastly, I am so thankful that there is a Walgreen's within walking distance from our hotel because that is the only place I can get a diet Dr. Pepper.  That is where I am headed now.

Don't forget to sign up if you are playing along.  (Again, I am sorry I didn't have this up sooner.)

Thankful Thursday ~ March 20, 2008

Tt1

Here it is already Thursday again.  I have really been slacking these past two weeks.  When I get home from work I don't want to do anything.   I do the necessary things, cook and sometimes clean.  I just can't stand cleaning.  :)  But I didn't want to drop the ball on Thankful Thursday again this week.  Sorry about last week.

I have so much to be thankful for, but today I choose to be thankful for our new home.  We still have quite a few things in the good ol' abode on wheels and this evening I had to trek back to the trailer and get a few things.  As soon as I stepped through the door I realized just how thankful I am to be living in our new home.

The one thing that I am very thankful for is my laundry room.  If you have ever gone without a laundry room you will completely understand.  When I was a kid we lived in a little house with a detached garage and our washer and dryer were in the garage.  I remember having to go and get clothes out of the dryer or put clothes in the dryer and the rain would be pouring down.  You know the rain I am talking about, when it rains so hard you don't even want to step out into it.  That is when I decided that when I grew up I would never, I repeat never, have my laundry facilities located anywhere other than inside my house.  Well, I have always been one to learn the hard way in life.  Never say never because sure enough whatever it is will happen to you.  And my washer and dryer were located in the barn for over two years.  So I am very thankful for having my laundry room.   I was able to do three loads of laundry last night and didn't forget about any of them.  Oh I hated it when I would forget I left something in the washer overnight or all day, geez the smell.  So now I don't really have that problem anymore.  Well, not yet.  :)

I am even more thankful that we have washers and dryers.  I love putting clothes out on the line, but I don't know if I could get into the whole washboard thing.

I know my thankful Thursday is a little strange, but sometimes that is just me.  Now go and check out other Thankful posts.  (If there are any.)  And Happy Birthday P3!!!!

Thankful Thursday March 13, 2008

Good golly where is my head?  In the clouds I guess.

Today was Thankful Thursday and I completely forgot to put up Mr. Linky.  Darn.  Well, if you posted leave a comment, if you didn't don't feel bad I didn't either.

But I am thankful for all of you because you are all so very understanding.  :)  I guess I was just wrapped up in Idol last night and forgot to get busy on here.

This is going to sound corny, but I am thankful for the people with the amazing voices and talents to make what we call music.  Music is a huge part of my life.  If there isn't a radio going, there is a song playing in my head.

But then when I think about how glad I am that we have music I begin thinking about how thankful I am that I can hear.  That puts a whole new spin on this thankful day.  I am so glad I can hear McD tell me he loves me, I can hear my Dad's contagious laugh, and of course I love to hear Poohs, Punky and Schemma's voices and laughs.  What wonderful sounds.  I love to hear the rain on the roof of the barn.  I love to hear the coyotes and owls at night.  Oh I could go on and on.

There's my thankful Thursday.  Sorry it is late.

For some time now I have been reflecting on how thankful I am for my family.  I believe a lot of people take their families for granted.  We just know that they will always be there.  But that might not always be the case.

I have a wonderful family, weird but wonderful.  Hey, I must be weird too, it runs in our blood.  I won't deny being weird.  My parents are three hours away, but thank goodness we have phones because we usually talk almost once a day.  We are closer now than we have ever been.  When we need help doing something, anything, they make it possible to be here to help.  They are always here for us.

As a kid I know we didn't have much money, but I didn't know it then.  I don't remember wanting for anything.  When I wanted a bike, I got it for my birthday.  Remember the banana seat bikes with the sissy bar on the back.  I loved that bike.  We always had fun, and we were never bored cause we had the outdoors.  Creeks and ponds kept us occupied most of the time, but we also played games inside.  We had fun and it was all because of my parents.

My sister and I have had the typical love hate relationship.  One time, when we were in school, she was mad about something and she grabbed a knife and threatened to stab me in the back.  Really I have no recollection what it was all about but I took the knife away from here and eventually we were laughing about it.  She did stab me in the back once with.a.toothbrush.  It hurt, but again, I have no recollection what it was all about but we laugh about it today.  She and I are now closer than we have ever been and we plan on keeping it that way.  She has a beautiful family and a wonderful life.  She has been blessed.

The kids and grandkids are amazing.  Being approximately 10 hours away from them we do not get to see them enough, and we miss them daily.  They, P3, are very good to send photos and we are so very thankful for that.  Here is an announcement for ya...Jer & Em are adding to their family.  Poohs & Punky will have a little brother or sister in October.  Em called the other day and told us that they saw the heartbeat and there is just one this time.  :)  I was glad, for them, that it wasn't twins again.  When I say kids I am including our daughter-in-law Em, she is a great wife to our Jer and a wonderful mother to Poohs and Punky.

I have been trying to hold back on this post because I could go on and on about my family.  But I plan on posting a little more about family times next week.  All the fun we had and still have, goofy things and plain things.

Now, be sure to check out the Mr. Linky in the post below and go see what everyone else is thankful for.

Thankful Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008

Tt1

Oh I have so many things to be thankful for today.  As most of you know I was summoned for Jury Duty and it started this past Monday.  Sitting in that courtroom three days in a row opened my eyes to many realities that are happening close to home.

A lot of us sit back and do not see the true crime that happens in our backyard (figuratively speaking).  Tomorrow I will have many more details, so be sure to come back for that.

I am thankful that I was not involved in this case, meaning being a victim.  I am thankful that I am not the one that lost a loved one.  I sat in that courtroom and prayed for each of the families, but that was all I could do.

I am also thankful for our judicial system.  As a person that had only really watched these kinds of things on television, I was in awe at times.  As soon as the defense attorney started questioning folks I was thankful that I had not been called.  He was brutal, and I felt so bad for one man in particular who was grilled for 45 minutes straight.

This might seem minor to some people, but today I am so thankful that I am going to work and sitting on a cushioned chair.  Those wooden pew things are really hard on a body.

I thought I would try Mr. Linky this time, thanks Pete.  So, I will be really thankful if it works.
Here goes nothing.

Nothing is right!!  It didn't work.  I will work on it more for next week.  If anyone has any Mr. Linky hints I would appreciate them.  Thanks!!

Thankful Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008

Oh, wow!  It is already Thursday!  We are going to play this a little differently today, you see since this is still fairly new I am trying to figure out the best way to handle the Thankful Thursdays.  I loved doing Fun Monday, but if you missed one you had to try and figure out who was hosting it next...yada yada yada.  So I wanted this to be a little different.  Let's see how this works.

If you are participating in Thankful Thursday just leave a comment here saying yours is posted.  That way, people can just click on your link.  And if you have any other suggestions on making this day easy for all of us, just let me know.

It is really funny how Thankful Thursday has changed the way I look at things.   All week long I have things crop into my little world that I am thankful for and always have been.  Then I started writing them down and making my list (I am kind of a list person), this has helped me think about how blessed we really are.
I knew all of this before, but if someone were to ask how we had been blessed it might have taken me a little longer to answer them back before my T.T. lists.

Today I am thankful for you!  Everyone that has taken the Thankful Thursday idea and ran with it.  I just knew it would be a flop, but if just one other person wants to play along I am grateful.  I have a tendency to be a negative person at times.  Sometimes I don't see the silver lining, but I try to find it.  It takes, or I should say it took a lot of effort.  Nowadays I can see the silver lining, I can be a bit more positive about things and try to help others do the same.  Maybe this Thankful Thursday thing is making me a better person.   (Okay, maybe that is over the top but it sure makes me feel good.)

Thank you to everyone who plays along.  I will be checking out your posts later this evening!
