What I Am Listening To...

Sweethomealabama

The other day I heard a commercial with a familiar song.  I immediately knew where I had heard the song, the movie Sweet Home Alabama.  I couldn't tell you now which commercial it is in now, but I really like the song.  So I went to iTunes and worked my magic, okay...I downloaded the Sweet Home Alabama soundtrack because most of the songs for that album are "album only."  Meaning you have to buy the whole album to get all of the songs.

Today, I will be at my desk jammin to the soundtrack of Sweet Home Alabama.

What are you listening to?

Traditional Okie Christmas Carol

Every year about this time Oklahomans are singing this BC Clark Jingle.   Check out the BC Clark website to hear the jingle if you aren't from around these parts.  But for all of you Okies out there, enjoy and good luck getting this tune out of your head!

Jewelry is the gift to give 'cause it's the gift that will live and live -
So give the gift you know can't fail - from B C Clark's Annivers'ry Sale ----
Most sales are af-ter Christmas, but Clark's is just be-fore.
'Most ev-'ry-thing is marked way down - Savings you can't ig-nore at Ok-la-ho-ma's
oldest jeweler - since eighteen-ninety-two.  So give the gift you know can't fail - from B C Clark's Annivers'ry Sale--------.

You probably guessed that it is a commercial, and you would be correct.  It is a commercial that has been around for a very long time.  I catch myself singing it long after the commercial is over.  And yes, I went there.  Didn't buy anything at the time, but found several things I might go back for.

Or if you are in Colorado, Fa la la la la Laa la la la laaaaaaaa!  ;)

Christmas Music

I love Christmas music.  McD, on the other hand, doesn't share the same feelings.  So I listen to it mostly when he is at work, or I am driving around.  It helps to sing along.  That way when some blue hair cuts you off or comes into your lane, you are full of the Christmas Spirit and don't feel like flipping them the bird.  :)

So, do you like Christmas music?  If so, what is your favorite Christmas song?

I like so much of it I hate to pick just one song.  So I will say, I love Harry Connick Jr's Christmas music.  But he doesn't even come close to Elvis.  Then there is Frank Sinatra, George Strait, Alabama, Jimmy Buffett...  See I told you, the list goes on and on.  Let me know what you like.

Name that Tune

Okay gang, today I drove home flipping through some of my favorite XM channels and here are a few of the songs that were playing.  Do you know the names of these songs?  I won't ask who sings them because a couple of them have been redone several times.

XM Channel 5 - 50s

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash
If you don't scrub that kitchen floor
You ain't gonna rock and roll no more

XM Channel 6 - 60s

There's a boy a little boy
Shooting arrows in the blue
And has aimed them at someone
And the question is at who

XM Channel 7 - 70s

And so you're back, from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I'd've known for just one second you'd be back to bother me

XM Channel 8 - 80s

Hey! I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat Fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Hey big woman you made a fat boy out of me
