I'm It? What?

Wow!  I got tagged from outta nowhere.  Jeanette got me good.  She wrote on her post that most of the people that she had tagged didn't even know her blog existed.  And she was right!  I had no clue.  BUT, I have read several posts and even commented now.

I am supposed to list 7 weird things about myself.  I know several of you have done this, so you know how difficult it can be to think of all the weird things you do.  Either that or it is difficult to admit to the whole internet how weird you really are.

Here goes nothing...

1.  I can't stand to hear people chew food.  McD is doing it right now and it is annoying as all get out.  Same goes for smacking food.

2.  I belch like a man.  Thank goodness that is all I do like a man, my sister got the gas gene...she farts like a man.  We joke about it all the time.

3.  I would rather eat raw cookie dough, than actually baking them.

4.  I like watching Wheel of Fortune.  My Great-Granny got me started as a kid, and I continued to watch it with my Granny and now I watch it with McD.  I could win some money on that show.

5.  It drives me crazy to drive behind someone that has left their turn signal on.

6.  Growing up we called turn signals/blinkers - ticker-tockers.  Hey, that is what my Mom called them.

7.  Oh, and I crack myself up.  Literally!  My mom has a message on her answering machine to prove it.

Okay, so maybe these things aren't that weird but it was all I could come up with.

I hope you don't mind Jeanette, but I am not going to tag anyone specific.  If you haven't done this meme yet and you need something to fill your blog, leave me a comment so I will know to come and check out your weirdness.

Tag I'm it!

Okay, the photo to follow is SCARY!  It is GROSS!  It is a disgrace to photography.  Please don't hold it against me, I promise not to post anything like it again.  Or at least for a really long time.

Here goes:
Bimg_0473
I made it smaller so you wouldn't get the full effect.  Now, if you click it to big it...you are on your own.  You will see the large planet that has parked itself on my forehead, the bags and dark areas under my eyes, and possibly the film on my teeth.

Tiggerlane is the one to blame.  :)  She tagged me with this horrendous tag.  Here is what you are supposed to do:  take a photo of yourself first thing in the morning.  No make-up, nothing.  Just straight out of bed.  You are not supposed to have your caffiene/coffee/diet dp or anything.  That is what you got.  Now Karmyn kind of cheated, but she did take the photo without make-up.  I am curious as to who took the photos.  But she participated, check it out.  When I saw that she had been tagged I emailed her with ideas.  Neither of us used the ideas, but I am not going to share them I want to see if anyone else comes up with them.  Now for who I am tagging!  Hmmmm, let's see...

Thank You, Thank You Very Much

Thinker

I'm honored to be named for the thinking blogger award by Vicki, THE Horny Redneck Christian Woman

One of the hardest things for me to do is pick 5 bloggers that I "think", get it Thinking Blogger Award, are deserving of this award.

I would have picked Vicki, but thanks to her I have been given this honor.  I would have picked Karmyn, but she is the one that honored Vicki.  Go check out the Diary of the Horny Redneck Christian (linked above) for most of the others I would have picked.

Here goes, in no particular order:

Cheeky, she is a Southern girl stuck in Minnefreakinsota, and she is awesome!

Tiggerlane, she  and I are both in the process of building new homes.  She just got back from a wonderful trip to D.C.  You must visit her and then her Flickr too.

The Arkansas Songbird at Quarter Notes.  I really wish I could hear her sing.  Check out the book she has posted about, I think I will.

Julie, no silly not me, Julie Carobini.  She is the author of the novel Chocolate Beach that was released this past February.  It is a Beach-Lit Blog, get it.  I love visiting her place.

And last but not least:
Anne Nahm, she is in panic mode about right now, go and see why.  She is really cool, too cool for a tagline.  :)

Enjoy your reading!

EDITED TO ADD:
I had one other person to give this award for but at the time I could not get her blog to come up, I feard the worst.  I emailed her to make sure she was still among the blogging and there she was.  Please go check out Amy.  She is going to be my personal tour guide when I go visit her neck of the woods!

Why I Love Where I Live

The theme of Fun Monday #4 was supposed to be us telling why we love where we live.  I was a bit busy and forgot all about Fun Monday, so I am making mine a Fun Tuesday.

Fimg_4926

I love where I live because:
- Most people can't find us. I like not being found.  No one coming to my door trying to sell me something from their school and guilting me into doing it.  No one selling encyclopedias, but I guess they don't do that anymore.  Or Bible thumpers, you know the ones I am talking about, the ones that don't want you to celebrate Christmas, trying to show you their way through their book and pamphlets.  But the people we want to find us can.  Good directions are a good thing, but bad directions are a good thing too.

- I can sit here and yell at the horses for taunting the dogs, and yell at the dogs for barking and carrying on with the horses without someone calling the authorities.  (I am doing this as I type.)

- I can sunbathe in my birthday suit if I want, I haven't here.  That got me in trouble one time.

- We can have loud parties, without disturbing anyone.  Crank the music, whoop and holler and anything else we want to do.

- We can look out our windows and see turkey, deer, rabbits and birds.  We see all of the beautiful wildlife.  Some of the wildlife we don't want around, like coyotes, skunks, badgers, possoms, and coons are pretty too, as long as they aren't on our place.  Oh and we can't forget the armadillos, bad bad creatures.

- We have awesome sunrises & sunsets.

- It is quiet, no city noises, noisy or nosy neighbors.  I can lay in my hammock and read a book with only the squirrels, birds and rabbits noticing.  Okay, the cows and horses notice too.  We rarely hear the road traffic because we are almost half a mile off of it.

I don't want to live anywhere else, ever.  Our place, sorry McD, our ranch is our heaven on earth.  We love it.

Fun Monday #3

Fun Monday #3 is being hosted by Swampwitch.  Our instructions were to post a link to our most memorable post.  The first post that came to my mind was  Hair Today Gone Tomorrow by Kelly

Kelly, I sure hope you don't mind.  The first time I read this post I laughed out loud.  The second time I read it out loud to McD and we both laughed out loud.  I even told friends about it so they could sit and laugh.  Then at lunch one day, she and I laughed about it again.

Laughter is the best medicine.  The least I can do is share this hilarious post with you.  If you are one of the people that have already read about her waxing experience, read it again.  I promise, you will at least giggle.

After you read this post, be sure to give Kelly your opinion on which colors she should paint the baby's nursery.

Next week Marnie will be hosting Fun Monday #4.

Through My Front Door

Img_7008

Vicki over at Keeping My Head Above Water has challenged everyone to post a photo of what they see through their front door.  After having a wild weekend of snow (7 inches), wrestling (Go Pokes!), and hospital visits I needed an idea for a short post.

Can't wait to see everyone elses.

The Christmas Tag of Joy

This is The Christmas Tag of Joy from Marnie and Pamela.

1. Hot Chocolate or Egg Nog?`
Hot Chocolate (with milk - none of that use water stuff.)

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Oh silly, the elves wrap the gifts and Santa just puts them under   the tree.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
When we have lights - White.  Living in the big 5th wheel we can't have a tree.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
I have. I didn't this year. That because Vicki couldn't carry a shotgun and a ladder both.  (Ditto,   Pamela.)

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Again, since we live in the big 5th wheel I don’t get to decorate.  But normally I would put them up the weekend after Christmas.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Hmmm I guess it would be the fruit salad my Dad and I make together.  It is just basically fruit and cool whip.

7 Favorite Holiday memory?
Being proposed to by McD.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I don't recall ever believing in Santa. But that didn't stop me from standing behind the curtain with my face against the cold window pane watching for him. I still do that.  (Again, Ditto Pamela.)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Growing up we always opened one gift on Christmas Eve, except the year we didn’t get gifts (see previous post).  I just carried that tradition on and we still do that.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Well, when we have a tree I use the handmade garland my friend HK and I made, and a wide variety of ornaments.

11. Snow! Love it or Hate it?
I love snow.  But I think I love it because we rarely get it.
12. Can you ice skate?
Yep

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Yep, a nice diamond ring from McD and the promise that he would love me for the rest of his life.

14. What's the most important thing?
I 'm of the opinion that Christmas is a cultural thing in this country. Spending time with family is probably what we all think about. However, in my heart I have a place that knows the importance of the Gift of His Son.  (Well said Pamela!  Ditto!)

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Popcorn balls

16. What happened to #16?  Hmmmm

17. What tops your tree?
We have an Angel. Of course it is still in the storage box this year.
(Ditto)

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Giving.  I love to watch people open their gifts and seeing the excitement on their faces.  Sometimes I tend to overdo it on gifts.  Oh well.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Just one?  I like it all.  This one is not my favorite but one I just heard the other day for the first time:  Cledus T. Judd’s  - Grandpa got run over by a John Deere.

20. Candy canes, Yuck or Yum
Oh, I can take ‘em or leave ‘em.

Most every blogger I read has shares this seasonal question and answer fun. If you have, thanks! If you haven't, let this be your opportunity. There are only three days left! (2 for WT!)

Swampy Did It!

Swampwitch tagged me.  Shoot.  So now all my new readers, you know who you are, will learn of My Oddities.  The original tag was just for 5 oddities/weirdness.  This one is for 6.  My first 5 were my food oddities.  My 6th will be completely different.

To see the first 5 oddities click here.

#6.  I smile. a.lot.  Anyone that knows me can vouch for me.  I do.  I don't know why.  I guess I am just a happy person and I smile.  Why do I call it an oddity?  Because, I rarely see people smile for no reason.  I will see someone smile at me and then realize that I am smiling from ear to ear.  But I can't help it and then I find myself smiling bigger because I caused someone to smile.  It IS contagious!

I think I will count how many people I see smiling.  Then at a later date I think I will see how many people I can get to smile by just smiling at them.  Try it!  Let's see how many people smile in your part of the world.

Simple Pleasures

Marnie tagged everyone.  Yep, you read that right.  If you decide to do this one please let her know.

There are so many simple pleasures in my life, here are 10 of them.

1.   Getting a phone call from Poohs & Punky.  Or hearing their messages in voice mail.
2.   Hugs from loved ones.  A good hug, not a puny one.
3.   Getting a foot massage from McD.
4.   Seeing or hearing McD laugh.  This one goes for my Dad too.
5.   Snuggling with McD.
6.   Kisses from my furbabies, including the horses.  Mainly the cuddling from Mordecai, his kisses are kind of rough.  The horses do more of an eskimo kiss.
7.   Reading a good book.  (I am ready for the final Harry Potter book.)
8.   A cup of hot chocolate (made with milk) or a good cup of hot tea.
9.   Helping someone.
10. Coming home.  Being on the road a lot makes me look forward to just being at home.

I am going to take the easy way out here, for you and for me.  I am tagging everyone.  So, TAG YOU'RE IT!  If you want to name 10 of your simple pleasures leave me a comment and I will come and check yours out.
