Well, I guess I am kind of surprised by some of your questions, but not surprised by others. :)
Here we go...
Juju asked, How old are you?
Seriously? Okay, isn't that one of those questions you are never supposed to ask? Just teasing. I am very proud of my age. I am 38 years young.
Vicki, my dear friend, asked me to link to this post. BUT WAIT!!! STOP!!! You might want to read the whole series of posts, starting with this one. Then this one. Now you can go back to the first one. I will let you read the posts, they kind of speak for themselves. Thank you Vicki! I am thankful for you too! Mwah!
Melissa asked the same thing as Juju. Hmmm. I am wondering if I should change my answer. :) No, I am still 38. But then she asked another question, What was your first car? Oh my. My first car was a Vette. A red vette. "Che"vette that is, Chevette. I had a lot of good times in that car. But boy was I glad to get rid of it. Oh and Melissa, I love your blog's masthead. Beautiful!!
Junebug asked, What is your relationship to Ree? Well, we are twins. There, I said it. No silly! We are not related. We are friends. McD and I have known MM and his family for a long time, before Ree was even a twinkle in his eye. And for the record, we love them all like family. (Oh and Junebug, I would like a tour of your home. I love log cabins.)
Rosemary asked, If you are not related to Ree then how did you two meet? and She wanted to know if I ride horses. Well, I am not related to Ree, as I stated in the previous answer. I met Ree at the Ranch Rodeo. She came to watch MM and his family compete, and I am pretty sure it was her first time there. We liked her from the very beginning.
As for riding horses, I do. I do not ride as often as I used to, nor as much as I would like to. I hope to spend a lot more time on horseback this fall. The only problem with that is that I can't get many photos like that. And thank you Ro, I had a lot of fun photographing McD in those photos.
jg asked, How big is your ranch? We have a very small ranch. In some peoples' minds we do not own a ranch because we only have 200 acres. Other people have less acres and still call it a ranch, Tom Selleck for instance, he has 60 acres and calls it a ranch. He might have more than that total, but that was one report we saw on him.
Stef asked, When will you and your good friend Stef get to go cook with the Pioneer Woman? Ha! Well, we might have to win one of her contests. And the way those go the odds are about 1 in a million. But I will ask her and see if we can arrange something. We would probably have our photos taken and posted on her blog though. Are you really ready for that?
Leslie said, Tell us about your ranch, and the meaning behind "Another Chance". Do you do rescues? Take all comers? Out-to-pasture critters? Or is it YOUR second chance at life? :-) What gives? Hmmm, our ranch is not called Another Chance Ranch, that is just the name of my blog. Our ranch does not really have a name. But the name Another Chance seems to fit all that live here, well almost all. If you read any of the posts I linked to in Vicki's answer/response, then you will know that I have indeed had Another Chance at life. Mia, our dog, has had Another Chance. So has our horse, Babe. Some of our cattle have too. Then there are the ones that have just gotten Another Chance in general. We do not do rescues, usually.
Pamela asked, Have you been looking for another job? Um, no. I have not been looking for another job. My goal is to retire early. Very early. I just can't seem to make enough money to do that. :)
Mary Stewart had several questions. Do you have kids? Yes and no. :) I assume you wanted a better answer than that. Sorry. I crack myself up. Hee hee. The yes is because I have two amazing step-sons. I love them like I would love my own. The no is because I do not have kids of my own. McD and I tried, but we were not meant to have kids of our own. Then the boys had kids of their own and I became Grandma.
Are you a farm/ranch kid? Tomboy? First and foremost, I am a Tomboy. I am proud to be a Tomboy. I have always been a country girl. I grew up in the country. I spent time on my Grandma's and cousin's farms. My great granny had wheat fields that we roamed in, my Grandma had cattle, and my cousins had goats, chickens, sheep, and cattle. We had a steer that we fed out one time, meaning we fed it till it was nice and fat then we had it butchered.
Are you involved in ranch duties? Do you ride? I am involved in ranch duties. There are only two of us on this ranch, so we work as a team. I do work full time, but so does McD. We wish we could do this full time, but we don't have that choice right now. I do ride. As stated above, I hope to be able to ride more this fall. How many cows/horses do you have? This was also a question from ArkansasCyndi. Honestly, when it comes time to work cattle we have too many, and when it comes time to go to the sale there aren't enough. And 4 horses. Any pets? Yes ma'am, we have pets. We have a cat, Mordecai; two dogs - Hoss and Mia. They are like 4-legged kids to us. Spoiled, oh my they are spoiled.
Is your house decorated and totally spotless, or lived in and decorated with stuff you love as opposed to things a decorator would buy? Hee hee, ha ha! Hee hee. Sorry, I can't quit laughing. Oh my. My house is not totally spotless. I hate to dust. There I said it. Hi, my name is Julie and I hate to dust. Our house is very lived in. Very lived in. I am one of those people that make sure it is clean before people come over. :) Anyone else that way? Decorated? Yes and no. We have only been in our house a year + a few months. I am not a good decorator. I have great taste, don't get me wrong, I just have champagne taste on a beer budget. And I know this, so some of our house still isn't decorated. But I am working on it. I am getting ready to enlist the help of you guys.
Wasn't that fun? I know I had fun. I enjoyed going back and finding some of my old posts. I found a few that I hope to showcase in the near future. Hope you all have a Happy Hump Day!
