A Week Ago Today
A week ago yesterday was my birthday and the first day of my new job. (By the way, thanks to all of you for all of your well wishes on the job and birthday wishes too.)
For my birthday I got this...
I got the Canon 40D body, and a new lens to go with. Oh and a battery grip, polarizer and bag. Yes, I am spoiled, but I won't get anything else for the rest of the year. Well, for a while any way. I love the new camera, but I am having to get used to some of the new buttons, dials and settings.
I had planned on keeping my old camera for a back up, just in case something happened to the new one. Then I thought about Jer, our oldest, he has a newfound love of photography. So why in the world would I just keep that camera in a closet collecting dust? I wouldn't! I didn't! I gave it to Jer. I even made a small (well, not so small to me, but to some it may be small) sacrifice. I even gave him my zoom lens. So I am without a zoom. I have told myself over and over that I won't be needing a zoom for a while, but the first thing I wanted to photograph - I needed a zoom. Shoot! That is okay, just seeing the look on his face and hearing the excitement in his voice was enough to make it all worth it. I can't wait to see his photos. :)

The Job
My new job is so completely different than my old one, but I really like it. I love the fact that I am so busy that I am working from the time I get there until the time I leave. It is nothing like my old job, NOTHING! I miss the people that I worked with, but I have made new friends and I still keep in touch with the others. My office is supposed to be ready this week, but I am not holding my breath. I bet the lady I am sharing an office with is ready for it to be finished as well. :) I am sure that having your own office invaded by a newbie isn't something a person would look forward to.
I will post photos when I do get my office. I failed to take photos of my previous space so I will be sure to use my new camera to give you a glimpse into my 8 to 5 world.
Tomorrow there will be another piece of Me & McD. I know, I know, I said that yesterday but this time I promise. :) I decided to make a few changes to what I have already written.

Happy belated birthday! I'm sure you will love the new camera, I am expecting LOTS of pictures. Glad you like your job, ENJOY!
Can't wait to hear more about you and McD.

Happy Birthday!
What a great gift! I know it is cliche, but a camera really is a gift that keeps giving and you can give back. Capturing sites and memories is awesome. And so is your generosity. I'm sure the camera and lens is very appreciated. And you know that. That's what makes missing the zoom lens ok.
Can't wait to see the pictures!
