Thankful Thursday, March 6, 2008

Tt1

For some time now I have been reflecting on how thankful I am for my family.  I believe a lot of people take their families for granted.  We just know that they will always be there.  But that might not always be the case.

I have a wonderful family, weird but wonderful.  Hey, I must be weird too, it runs in our blood.  I won't deny being weird.  My parents are three hours away, but thank goodness we have phones because we usually talk almost once a day.  We are closer now than we have ever been.  When we need help doing something, anything, they make it possible to be here to help.  They are always here for us.

As a kid I know we didn't have much money, but I didn't know it then.  I don't remember wanting for anything.  When I wanted a bike, I got it for my birthday.  Remember the banana seat bikes with the sissy bar on the back.  I loved that bike.  We always had fun, and we were never bored cause we had the outdoors.  Creeks and ponds kept us occupied most of the time, but we also played games inside.  We had fun and it was all because of my parents.

My sister and I have had the typical love hate relationship.  One time, when we were in school, she was mad about something and she grabbed a knife and threatened to stab me in the back.  Really I have no recollection what it was all about but I took the knife away from here and eventually we were laughing about it.  She did stab me in the back once with.a.toothbrush.  It hurt, but again, I have no recollection what it was all about but we laugh about it today.  She and I are now closer than we have ever been and we plan on keeping it that way.  She has a beautiful family and a wonderful life.  She has been blessed.

The kids and grandkids are amazing.  Being approximately 10 hours away from them we do not get to see them enough, and we miss them daily.  They, P3, are very good to send photos and we are so very thankful for that.  Here is an announcement for ya...Jer & Em are adding to their family.  Poohs & Punky will have a little brother or sister in October.  Em called the other day and told us that they saw the heartbeat and there is just one this time.  :)  I was glad, for them, that it wasn't twins again.  When I say kids I am including our daughter-in-law Em, she is a great wife to our Jer and a wonderful mother to Poohs and Punky.

I have been trying to hold back on this post because I could go on and on about my family.  But I plan on posting a little more about family times next week.  All the fun we had and still have, goofy things and plain things.

Now, be sure to check out the Mr. Linky in the post below and go see what everyone else is thankful for.

I remember the banana seat bike cause I got one for my 11th or 12th birthday. It was so cool I thought. We played at the creeks and ponds behind our house too. My brothers were known for accidentally setting a pasture on fire. It really was an accident. I almost did once. Dad used to burn the driveway grass off and I thought I'd help him out. So I would start a little burn patch and stomp it out and keep doing this little by little until it got out of hand (or foot) and I couldn't stomp fast enough. I had to run get my mom and the hose and she helped me put it out. Turned out I only burned the driveway grass but did I appear downstairs that night? No! I stayed in my room very ashamed. :D

I remember my sons getting bikes with banana seats.I tried to ride one with a group of ladies who would go out every night for exercise. We would go out 2-3 miles, well I must say that when I got back to town I told my hubby I was buying a ladies bike with a BIG seat.
I really did enjoy reading your blog.
I don't think that I could have pity on the monster either. Hope he don't get off by pleading insanity. That is getting to be used more and more.
