Another Lazy Day - Answers

Friday I asked everyone to delurk and ask me questions so that I might have something to blog about.  Like some other bloggers, WT is the only one coming to mind right now, I have hit the brick wall in blogland.  I was having a hard time coming up with something to write about.  Out of hundreds only nine people commented, and only eight people asked questions.  NINE!  Come on people!  I see you out there.

If there was just one celebrity you could walk up to and say "look here honey - wake up and smell the coffee" who would it be and why? ~ Cheeky

Umm, it isn't just one it is more like a group.  The Dixie Chicks.  Why?  Really?  Need I say more?  I will say that they can play and they can sing, but that is really all we care to hear about.   That really goes for all the celebrities out there that tend to give their political opinions.  We don't care, or I guess I should say - McD and I could really care less what your thoughts and ideas about our country's political present or future.  I guess with all the people announcing their decisions to run for President of the United States of America has this fresh on my mind.

I asked this question one other time - so maybe there's a chance for an answer this time!! I love the siding on your new house - I've been looking into doing wood siding on our house because I hate vinyl, etc. My husband keeps saying no because he's afraid of the maintenance. So, I was wondering what you have been told about the upkeep of the wood siding. Thanks!
Janet in Iowa

Janet, I am so sorry about this.  I sent you an email regarding this exact question and just assumed you had received it.

Wood siding is great!  But he is correct, there is maintenance work that has to be done.  Although depending on what kind of sealant you use, you could go 3 to 5 years without having to re-seal it.  Another factor is weather.  If your siding is pretty well covered from the weather you will be able to re-seal less often.  We have a friend that put cedar siding on his house and while he was researching sealants he called a log home manufacturer to find out what they use for the log homes in the northern "snowy" states.  They told him what they used and he ordered it for his house.  I will ask him how often he re-seals his house and let you know.  Keep in mind that I am no expert on this at all.  We lived in a cedar-sided house for about 6 years.  We only stained and sealed it once and it looked great!  We did it ourselves and it wasn't too bad.  We used Clorox water to bleach the wood, and then we stained/sealed it.  It was the first time we had ever done it so we were kind of messy with it, but by the time we finished we were pros.

delurking . . . . I would love to see some of your recipes! And, I'm sure that would be just as much fun as Ree's. Please, please, please. I'm tired of Paula Deen type foods, I want me something different (I'm a southern gal, don't ya know). ~Diane

Diane - you got it!  I think I am going to start posting one recipe a week.  I will be sure to throw in some that are not the Paula Deen type.  Although I have to admit, I love Paula Deen!  She has some great recipes.  Thanks for delurking!

Just wondering if you will have any wrought iron cowboys leaning against your posts on the porch? ~ Dawn for Dishes

Oh my heck!  How did you know?  On the Northwest corner of the porch we are going to have a nice wrought iron cowboy silhouette with drink holders for our Margaritas & beers.  I have the perfect cowboy to stand in as a model.

There are a few more questions from Fridays comments and I promise to get to those next week.  Tomorrow I have a post dedicated to my Dad.  Why?  Just because.  Now I am off to cross-stitch and get ready to watch a little football.

If you come up with a question to ask, please do.  Thanks goes out to my nine commenters!  You were there when I needed ya!  ;)
